5 Years Later: Houston after Harvey

Five years ago, Houston faced a hurricane that devastated us as a community.

Hurricane Harvey made landfall late on August 25, 2017, and simply stayed over our city. For almost five days, the storm poured almost 50 inches of rain on us.

Homes and businesses were destroyed. Cars were flood and swept away. Heartbreakingly, over 60 lives were lost.

Five years later, our city remembers where we were during Hurricane Harvey and has learn how to better prepare.

Five years later, we’ve rebuilt, recovered and, because of community bonds that were forged in the wake of tragedy, we’ve been reminded of how H-Town supports, loves and grows.

Five years later, after working to cope with the aftermath of the storm, we remain Houston Strong.

Ashley KB was born in Long Beach, CA, but spent most of her childhood in Denver, CO. She was very athletic growing up, and she loved running track and playing volleyball. Ashley was married to A.J. for six years... but it just didn't work out. And that's OK!
