ABC’s of Me :: Jenn

All About Me ::

If you really knew me, you would know that ICEES and hot showers are my go-to mood changers, and a good run can clear my mind like nothing else. On that run, both Jay-Z and Hootie and the Blowfish could be on my headphones fueling the fire to just keep going. You would know that I love the smell of freshly cut grass, and while I could soak in the scent of a baby all day, catching a whiff of my sun-screened, sweaty toddler makes my heart smile with the knowledge of the fun he has had outdoors.  You would know that when I grow up, I want to write greeting cards for Hallmark, and I once watched Jerry Maguire every day for the good part of three months in high school. I still want to give my oldest a “Help me, help you!” when he asks for my help sometimes. You would know that I wake up thinking about breakfast, my favorite lunch is a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a side of potato chips and a Coke, and dinner at least once a week most likely includes chips and salsa.  And most importantly, you would know that I believe in the role I was called to be as ‘Momma,’ and each day through both the trials and joys, I find my heart growing in grace more than I could ever have imagined.

Best Thing About Houston ::

My hands-down answer to this question is the variety. From food to events to opportunities to cultures, Houston offers it all. As moms I believe we are so blessed to be able to expose ourselves and our children to so much. At the same time, Houston provides a comforting feel as a city that can be your family’s own.

Children of Mine ::

IMG_0279Wyatt {age 3} – Our household ‘Sheriff’ is part son, part brother, and 100% pilot. With an infectious smile and a love of all things aviation, he spends time learning all that he can about helicopter parts and taking his many airplanes and helicopters on ‘missions’ around the house. He is a fan of sneaking kisses, M&M math, car rides that involve entrance and exit ramps to Highway 59, and Team Umizoomi. Little brother John lights up when The Sheriff is around, and we have loved watching Wyatt grow into his role of big brother.

IMG_3921John {age 6 months} – The ‘Deputy’ John is our blue-eyed, smiley, capture-your-heart-with-one-look little guy. Although he is a pretty laid-back baby, it will not be long before he is crawling around after big brother trying to keep up on those household helicopter missions.  He loves catching an eye of someone around and then giving them the biggest baby grin he can muster and shyly looking away. These days we find him nibbling on his toes, crawfishing backwards in attempts to snag one of brother’s toys, and working hard to grow teeth way too early!

IMG_4461I am beyond blessed to watch these two little Cajun cowboys grow as individuals and as brothers, and I love that Houston Moms Blog will be a part of our journey. Leave us a comment and let us know what these two need to do or see in our fun city!
