Cypress is a large scale residential area located along Hwy 290 N, approximately 24 miles from downtown Houston. The growth in this area has made it one of the largest suburban communities in the United States.

Cypress has many great neighborhoods to consider, like Miramesa, Bridgeland, Cypress Creek Lakes, Lakewood, and many more! Neighborhoods.com is a great place to start to find out more about these neighborhoods and to find a house.

Why Moms Love it

Moms Love Cypress because of the family-friendly neighborhood activities and the small town feel so close to the big city. Despite the 290 traffic and road work, it is a short 24 mile drive into downtown. Cypress has a great bird population and moms love taking their kids to check out the owls! There are some great resources on this community page and this toddler page. Check them out!

Childcare and Schools

We know finding great child care and schools is a daunting task.  There are hundreds of great day care options in this area, but finding the right one for your family takes work. In Cypress, we have hosted many fun events at Children’s Learning Adventure. Cypress is served by CFISD, which is a great school district! It is the third largest school district in the state of Texas. There are also a few private schools in Cypress available:: St Elizabeth Ann Seton School (K-8), Cypress Christian School (K-12), Covenant Academy (K-12), Frassati Catholic School in Spring, St. John XXIII HS in Katy, Silverline Montessori School. There are also many charter schools across Houston, like YES Prep and Harmony Schools. Lone Star College is also available for community college students.

Perfect Date Night/Staycation

Mommy breaks like date nights, an occasional brunch, and staycations are an important part of self care.

A few Cypress area restaurants are on our list of the 30 Most Family Friendly Houston Patios and our list of Family Friendly Restaurants around Houston. We even know the most kid friendly breweries in this area. Interested in bringing your own alcohol and saving a bit of money? Check out our list of BYOB restaurants around town!
