DIY :: Holiday Wreaths

Are you trying to prepare for the holidays but feel like something is missing?

The holidays are my favorite time of the year to decorate, but it can get a little pricey. This year I decided to update my holiday decorations with some wreaths for each season. But, like many of us, I didn’t want to go over my holiday spending budget. So I am going to share a super easy and affordable way to create your own holiday wreaths. Because you don’t have to be an expert crafter or break the bank to make your home look festive!

Easy Wreath

You will need the following items ::

  • Wreaths – They don’t have to be expensive. Different dollar stores carry various sizes and they are only $1!
  • Embellishments – Places like Wal-Mart and Hobby Lobby have great embellishments! I usually go to the discounted section of the store or use my coupons, and Hobby Lobby has their coupons online.
  • Ribbon & Tulle – I stock up on these when they are on sale.
  • Hot Glue Gun & Glue Sticks – Again, love the dollar store for this!
  • Scissors

I love making fabric flowers myself and first learned to make them when my daughter was born for headbands. There are a variety of YouTube videos that show you how to make fabric flowers, but you can also buy them at Hobby Lobby already pre-made.

Directions ::

  1. Take a piece of tulle or ribbon and wrap it around the wreath before cutting it just to help visualize placement. You will usually need between 10 to 12 inches depending on the size of your wreath.
  2. Cut the tulle and/or ribbon. You can use either one or both to decorate your wreath.
  3. Place some hot glue at any given starting point on your wreath and press one end of your ribbon or tulle down on the glue. {Caution: it will be very hot so do it carefully!}
  4. Then, wrap your tulle or ribbon around the wreath so that you end up at your starting point. Secure the other end with hot glue as well.
  5. Finish by adding embellishments on one side of the wreath and secure them all with hot glue.
