Grandparent’s Day Gift…It’s NOT too late!

Grandparent’s Day is September 7, 2014.  That’s THIS Sunday, moms!!!

Did you forget?  It’s okay.  So did I.  But I wanted to make something special, meaningful, and inexpensive WITHOUT being too time consuming!  So I hopped myself on over to HobLob today and bought a few of the supplies that I didn’t already have for this precious DIY silhouette art and GOT TO WORK.  Ha.  Not much work required on this one, and I. LOVE. IT.

Here’s what you’ll need and the quick and easy steps ::

grandparent's day craft

1.  Gather your supplies.

  • a camera
  • your child/children for a quick picture
  • frames of your size choice {I used a 2 1/2 x 3 1/2}
  • tracing paper
  • black and white card stock
  • pencil
  • marker of your color choice
  • scissors {NOTE :: if you are using a small frame, you may want smaller, more precise scissors to cut out your silhouette.}
  • stapler
  • glue

2.  Use your camera to snap a side-view picture of your child and print it out.

3.  Lay tracing paper over your picture{s} and trace your child’s silhouette onto it.

4.  Take the tracing paper and staple it onto black card stock.

5.  Using the silhouette lines you drew onto your tracing paper, use your scissors to cut out your silhouette.

6.  DONE!  Use glue to attach your DIY silhouette art to white card stock, add a name {or a bow!} if you choose, and place it in a frame!

PS…I made sets for both of the grandparents.  AND one for ME too!!!
