Easy Halloween Snacks and Sweets Your Kids Will Love

I always wanted to be one of those moms that creates cute, themed snacks and crafts during the holidays. You know – the “Pinterest mom”. I did try to be a “Pinterest mom” once. I found an adorable Thanksgiving snack that I was so excited to give my son. I spent over an hour making, decorating, and perfecting said snack. I imagined giving him this snack and seeing his eyes light up in excitement as he thanked me for the creative and thoughtful snack. Turns out, he wasn’t ooh-ed and ahh-ed with delight. And it took him a full 2 minutes to eat.

The truth is, I have no idea how these moms do it. Once I had kids, the reality of the energy and time it took to recreate these intricate snacks set in. However, I still wanted to make fun themed treats for the holidays. With Halloween coming up, I knew I had to find some fun snacks for my candy loving kids (and me).  After scouring the Internet, I found some incredibly easy (so easy that none of them actually require a recipe) Halloween snacks that anyone can make in less than 5 minutes. Bonus – a lot of the ingredients are things you may already have at home!

Spooky Trail Mix

spooky trail mixTrail mix is probably the easiest and most versatile Halloween snack there is. You can use anything you have around your house that your kids love to eat. It’s always a crowd pleaser and there is literally no way to mess it up. You put too much chocolate in – that’s ok, everyone loves chocolate. You put too few nuts in – go ahead and throw in some more.  It’s a no fail recipe that has no true ingredients or instructions. Literally my favorite type of recipe to make. I added in some candy corn and Halloween colored M&Ms to make it more on theme for Halloween.

Goblin Up Some Yogurt Bark

yogurt barkYogurt is a staple in our house (I am convinced my family alone keeps the yogurt company in business). So when I saw this easy to make yogurt bark recipe, I knew I had to try it out. This one was also a great one to get my kids involved in too. First, we poured our favorite type of yogurt onto a baking sheet. Next, we got our favorite treats to lay on top. My son used Halloween themed candy for his side and I used fruit and edible spooky eyes for mine. Then, we put it in the freezer to harden. Once it was hard, we broke it up and enjoyed!

Juicy Jack-o-Lanterns

juicy jack-o-lanternsHalloween snacks don’t have to be complicated. At all. This is yet another no-fail, anyone can do it recipe. I hesitate to even use the word recipe because there is literally no prepping, mixing, cooking, or cleaning (totally up my alley) but I don’t know what else to call it, so recipe it is. Do you have any clementines? Great! Do you have a sharpie? Great! That’s all you need. It literally took 2 seconds of work, and my kids LOVED it! Win win.

Apple Monster Mouth

apple monster mouthI’m a sucker for anything with peanut butter so this one was my personal favorite. Luckily, I had all the ingredients for this one at my house – peanut butter, apple, and marshmallows. I simply cut two slices of apple, spread an obscene amount of peanut butter on both of them, added some marshmallow for teeth, sandwiched the slices together, and viola! An apple monster mouth perfect for a mid-day energy boost.

I loved finding some super simple, creative, and delicious Halloween snacks to make for my kids (and me). What are some of your favorite Halloween themed snacks and treats?
