West University Place is located in Houston, with the street boundaries of Bissonnet, Community, Holcombe/Bellaire, and Kirby. This area “has managed to retain its small town feel while providing convenient access to an array of big city amenities in the surrounding areas” according to the West U website. It is minutes from the Galleria, the Medical Center, and downtown Houston, as well.

- Levy Park is one of the newest parks in Houston, and our contributors think it’s amazing! After undergoing a $15 million dollar renovation, the park is so unique to this area of town. There is a modern climbing wall, musical steps, observation deck, community garden, and a large lawn perfect for running around! This park has made our list of the BEST Parks in Houston!
- Firetruck Park is named after a retired firetruck that sits inside the park. This park is so great for everyone from wobbly walkers to active preschoolers and elementary age kids. It has a rubbery surface, is well-maintained, and just underwent a significant upgrade in 2012. Kids can even play fireman and pretend to drive the firetruck structure! This park has made our list of the BEST Parks in Houston!
Childcare and Schools
We know finding great child care and schools is a daunting task. There are hundreds of great day care options in this area, but finding the right one for your family takes work. For grades K-12, the area is zoned to HISD and parents should research carefully how to navigate the HISD schools. There are also many charter schools across Houston, like YES Prep and Harmony Schools.
Perfect Date Night/Staycation
Mommy breaks like date nights, an occasional brunch, and staycations are an important part of self care.
