I know a lot of moms are starting the difficult task of homeschooling or assisting their kids with virtual learning. As a veteran in the teaching game, I have a few of my favorite go-tos that make teaching easier. Who am I kidding? Teaching is far from easy, but I do like to spoil myself with these useful items to help make the load a little lighter.

Planning

I know this year has not given us a lot to look forward to, but that does not mean that we do not have things that need to be done. Doctors’ appointments, assignments, and even grocery lists all fit very nicely in my Erin Condren Planner. I love it because it comes with stickers, and you can customize the cover to include your favorite pictures of your family.

De-stressing

Self care is so important to making sure you are energized for the week. Every Sunday since June, I have spent about 15 minutes giving myself a Color Street nail manicure. I’m not good at keeping a steady hand, so this works out perfectly! I can just remove a sticker, place it over my nails and Voila—perfect manicure in minutes.

Organizing

I am proud to be West African, and I love to show it off. So, I each year I buy myself a cute new backpack to hold all of my stuff. This year {and last year too!} I went with the fair trade, black owned company Africa on My Back. The backpacks are trendy, roomy, and you can throw them in the wash with your laundry to keep them clean!

Spiritual Balance

Keeping yourself emotionally balanced is important, and the best way I have found is using a guided journal. The Happy Day Guided Journal to Genuine Joy comes with questions that prompt your thinking, and its quick enough to do in the time between the kids getting up and the sun rising.
