Friday Favorites:: Edition 7

Fall is here! Temperatures are dropping {below 90 degrees is good, right?}, the days are getting shorter and it’s all pumpkin spice everything.  As my favorite time of the year sets in, I’m sharing with you five {-ish} of my favorite finds to nourish your soul and delight your senses this season.

For Your Tastebuds

First things first – I love coffee. Really, a day without coffee is like…well, I don’t know because I never go a day without coffee.  One day, as I was scrolling through my Instagram feed, an ad popped up for Milk Street Coffee Sugars. Christopher Kimball’s Milk Street is a gourmet cooking subscription website that offers recipes, videos, spice blends and, yes, coffee sugars.  The coffee sugars are infused with spices such as cardamom and ginger, as well as, honey, orange zest and more.   I’m always willing to try something new so, I ordered the 6 – pack sampler.  They are AMAZING! Plus, they’re delicious on so many other foods.  Making Crème Brule? Top it with the Burnt Sugar Orange Spice Coffee Sugar. Perfection! Adding Coconut Ginger Cream Coffee Sugar to heavy whipping cream, then blending with mixer makes a delicious whipped cream for fresh berries.  My favorite? The Caramel Brule Coffee Sugar in a cup of hot coffee, with vanilla soy creamer.  My happy place!

For Your Home

Like everyone else in the world, our family took on some remodeling projects during the coronavirus lockdown.   In creating our new space, we discovered that there were more than a few walls that needed some attention – maybe a little paint and some new artwork.  Also, large walls are hard to decorate and keep it interesting.  This clock, available from Amazon, is a beautiful addition to our game room!  It’s both bold and functional and, get this, it was a diy project that my daughters and I worked on installing together.

For Your Skin

Cooler temperatures generally means less humidity and, possibly, drier skin.  I love a good body butter that maintains moisture throughout the day without being greasy.  Soap & Glory’s The Righteous Butter, available at Target, is exactly what I need.  Plus, it smells soooo pretty.

For Your Listening Pleasure

This is a “twofer”:: one for music and another for conversation. First, ever since Disney premiered Beyoncé’s Black is King visual album, I’ve been streaming it continuously on my playlist.  Seriously, the afro-beat rhythms mixed with the R&B vibe keep me moving.  Also {and I know you may find this a bit controversial} but, it’s not all about Beyonce. Various artists are featured on this album that provide depth and diversity to the project.  Not only does it amplify African musicality and culture, but it’s feel good music from beginning to end. My favorite track?  Find Your Way Back.

Second, if you do not follow Luvvie Ajayi Jones, you most definitely should.  This New York Times best selling author is all about amplifying the voices of Black women and building bridges in our society. She’s also smart, funny and completely enjoyable. Her podcast, Rants & Randomness with Luvvie Ajayi Jones, features conversations with women change agents across various social media, political and entertainment platforms. Guests have included activist/author Austin Channing Brown, actresses Gabrielle Union and Sophia Bush and Cook County State’s Attorney, Kim Foxx. I always learn something from her podcasts and feel like my mind and my spirit have been fed.

I love to shop!  You, too?  Yes, girl!  Well, I’ve got something for you.  Go right over to Instagram and follow @cutefindswithq.  There you will find my cute friend Quenisha’s amazingly budget friendly and adorable fashion picks.  The woman knows no boundaries – boutique shopping, Amazon, Target, Nordstrom – she finds {and links} it all for your shopping pleasure.  Quenisha is a wife, mother, world’s best aunt and loves all things fun.
