Holidays in Houston :: Christmas Eve Surprise!

Holidays in Houston

Christmas Eve Surprise!

This is only our second Christmas as a family of three, so our traditions are all new.  But I’m starting one this year that I’m particularly excited about…

HMB Christmas Eve Gift

We open our gifts Christmas morning, after Santa has come and delivered his gifts.  But this year, I’ve wrapped a special present for my little Skeeter, with instructions to open Christmas Eve.

Christmas Eve Gift

I can’t think of a better way to spend the evening after a candlelight church service than enjoying each other as a family with the Christmas tree lit and a fire roaring in the fireplace.  So I’ve specially selected items for this gift that will end with us all snuggled up on the couch, maybe even enjoying some hot chocolate or roasted marshmallows.

Now for the goodies!  Here’s what I’ve included ::

Christmas Jammies

First {and most importantly} because they’re cute.  Also, because when you’re snuggled up on the couch as a family, you have to be comfortable!  I’d be lying if I told you I hadn’t considered purchasing Christmas PJ’s for myself and the husband.  But I know there is no chance of my hubby agreeing to wear them.

Christmas Movie

This year, I selected Mickey’s Christmas Carol.  Skeeter is currently obsessed with all things Mickey, so this was a no-brainer.  I am excited to introduce other movies, like The Muppets Christmas Carol and Home Alone as she gets older.

Snacks

I don’t know anyone who can watch a movie without some snacks!  I chose gummies for this year, since Skeeter can’t eat popcorn yet.  I may even pick up some Peanut Butter M&Ms for me and a Snickers bar for my hubby {if he makes it on the Nice List!}.

I’ve already wrapped most of Skeeter’s presents and tucked them under the tree, but this is the one that really got me excited for Christmas.  I cannot wait to start this tradition and carry it on over the years with Skeeter and {maybe} her future siblings.  I can only hope she’ll still cooperate when she’s a teenager!

Since there’s only room for improvement, I have to ask – what would YOU add to the Christmas Eve Surprise Gift?
