Ready or not… It is officially rodeo time in Houston, my friends! Over the next 20 days, visitors will come from near and far to experience all that the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has to offer, and lucky us — it’s right here in our very own backyard. Whether you’re new to Houston and heading to the rodeo for the very first time or a native Houstonian who has been going for decades, it’s easy to get a bit overwhelmed with all that the world’s largest livestock show and rodeo has in store each year. So in an effort to make your visit a little bit more fun and get you off the beaten path just a bit, we’ve created a handy-dandy scavenger hunt that includes unique stops and helpful resources you won’t want to miss. We would love to see how many YOU can find on your visit, so be sure to share pics and tag us on social media {@HoustonMomsBlog} so we can follow along with your hunt too…
HOUSTON LIVESTOCK SHOW & RODEO
>> SCAVENGER HUNT <<
Lost & Found
Location :: NRG Center, Hall B
This lost and found isn’t just for jackets and stuffed animals. At the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, it is also where lost children can be reunited with their parents. When you first arrive on the grounds, it’s a good idea to seek out this location and discuss a plan with your children if you’re ever to become separated.
AGventure
Location :: NRG Center, Hall A
Get hands-on as you learn all about agriculture with your kiddos in the AGventure exhibit! Here you will find the birthing center, petting zoo, milking parlor, fisheries, and more. Open daily from 9am – 9pm, this is a must visit stop if you’ve got kids in tow!
Reliant Big Boot
Location :: Near the Wine Garden at Carruth Plaza
No trip to the rodeo is complete without visiting the 20-foot tall Reliant Big Boot! Take a photo with the fam and tag @ReliantEnergy {Twitter} or @ReliantEnergyTX {Instagram} for a fun social media photo opp, and then play a cornhole-style “boot toss” game for your chance to win fun prizes like free concert and carnival tickets. Yee-haw!
The Junction
Location :: East of NRG Astrodome
The Junction is packed with family-friendly entertainment – including educational exhibits, carnival rides, music, mutton bustin’, and a whole lot more. Visit daily from 9am – 9pm, with the carnival running Monday – Friday from 11am – midnight and Saturday – Sunday from 10am – midnight.
Nursing Stations
Locations :: NRG Arena & NRG Center
We’ve had lots of mamas ask us if there will be designated nursing stations at the rodeo, and we are beyond excited to report that the answer is — YES! Of course, we believe that anywhere is a good place to breastfeed, but we also know it’s really nice to have a quiet spot that caters exclusively to nursing mamas and babies too.
Western Saloon Photo Booth
Location :: NRG Center, Entrance C
Create a fun family photo with props and clothing at the Western Saloon Photo Booth! On the weekends, you can even create a personalized “Wanted” poster as a fun little keepsake. Be sure to share your photos with @ReliantEnergy {Twitter} or @ReliantEnergyTX {Instagram} to show off your authentic western look.
Social Station
Location :: NRG Center, Hall D
Speaking of social sharing, be sure to stop by the Social Station where you can take pictures in a photo boot and share them directly to social media using #RODEOHOUSTON. Open daily at 10am, here you can enter to win concert tickets, season tickets, and show merchandise. Yes, please!
First Aid
Locations :: NRG Center, NRG Arena, & NRG Stadium
Hopefully, you won’t need to access this area, but it’s always good to know where the first aid stations are when out and about! There are several stations located throughout the grounds, and they are all staffed by volunteer medical technicians, paramedics, and nurses to handle any major or minor medical needs.
NRG Go Stations
Locations :: NRG Stadium & NRG Park
Running low on your phone’s battery? Not to worry – just find an NRG Go portable power station! There you can rent a Go Pack, charge on the go, and then return it when you’re done … or take advantage of their Street Charge stations with a variety of charging cables where you can plug in and charge your device for FREE! There are 12 stations available at NRG Stadium {every ramp on levels 1, 3, & 5} and six stations available across NRG Park.
