Houston Moms Blog Launch Party {Recap}

When I first began planning the launch of Houston Moms Blog, I never imagined hosting a launch party to kick it all off.  Honestly, the thought just never crossed my mind.  I figured I might get together with a few of my closest and dearest mommy friends and toast over a glass of champagne, but that was about it.  That is…until Marie from Pomp and Circumstance Boutique reached out to me about hosting an event.  And just like that, the wheels in my mind started turning!  The next thing I know, we have food sponsors and drink sponsors and a photographer to capture it all.  And not only did I find myself planning an event…I found myself right in the middle of planning something wonderfully great!  An opportunity for me and the fabulous contributor team to meet all of you – our beloved readers!  We are so excited about this journey that we are embarking on together as a community, and the launch party was a perfect way for us to celebrate with all of you in style!

1 - Houston Moms Blog

Of course, this incredible event would not have been made possible without our amazing sponsors, so I must take a minute to give thanks to them all…

The Venue :: Pomp and Circumstance Boutique

Never in my wildest dreams could I have picked a more perfect place to host the Houston Moms Blog Launch Party!  Marie, the boutique’s owner, is the perfect hostess and a joy to work alongside.  Her boutique is perfectly decorated and packed full of gorgeous clothing, accessories, and handmade jewelry {all at incredibly affordable prices I might add!}.  So all throughout the evening, moms were trying on outfits and adding fun necklaces and bracelets to what they already had on.  And I think just about every guest left with a bag full of fabulous to add to their wardrobe!

The Foods ::

Oh. My. Goodness.  There was some amazing food at this party!  Green Plate Kitchen brought two huge platters overflowing with the most delicious {and surprisingly nutritious} cookies, muffins, and fruit snacks that all of us mamas gobbled up and left wanting more.  Good thing we can easily find them around town at most local HEB and Whole Foods locations!  And personally, I am excited to try their kids line on my picky little eater too. {Turkey tacos with veggies hidden in – yes, please!}  We also had two trays neatly lined with beautiful and decadent Bite Macarons.  These little bites of yummy goodness were such a hit, and I found myself lost in conversation with several moms that night talking about how we can incorporate them into our next party at home – pink and blue for baby showers, party favors for birthdays…the list goes on and on…

The Drinks ::

When us moms go out for an evening without the kids, it is only customary that we have a cold drink in our hand.  And SlimRitas more than delivered!  These fresh juice margaritas went down oh-so-smooth, and the best part about them – only 100 calories each.  Because we all know that us Houston moms LOVE a good margarita…but we hate the ridiculous amount of calories that come with them.  {Look for them next time you are at Spec’s or at your favorite restaurant or bar.  Believe me, you will thank us later!}  And for those of us wanting to try something new, Deep Eddy Vodka provided some of their yummy sweet tea vodka which is basically a cold glass of southern sweet tea plus the kick of vodka.  Yup…it was amazing!

The Photographer :: Taryn Melgoza Photography

A very special thanks goes out to Taryn for all of the beautiful pictures you see above and below.  She did such a wonderful job capturing every little detail and all of the special moments throughout the night too.  This was definitely a night that I never want to forget, and thanks to these great photographs – I know that I never will!

The Guests ::

YOU are what truly made this night an incredible success!  Thank you, thank you, thank you to to each and every one of you who came and spent your evening with us.  We appreciate your presence, your encouragement, and your support more than you will ever know.  We loved having the opportunity to meet so many of you, and we are more than excited for all that is to come……….

Kelly D
Kelly is the founder of Houston Moms Blog and has lived in this beautiful city nearly all of her life. She has a degree in education from Texas State University and was honored to teach special education for eight years to some of the cutest little kiddos you could ever meet. While teaching, Kelly met Cody – a tall drink of water and country boy to the core – and together, they fell in love, got married, and decided to start a family. In March 2011, they welcomed Hayes into the world, a silly but smart little boy with a story you have to read to believe. And in April 2013, their family was complete with the addition of Hadley, a super gregarious and oh-so-cute baby girl. Now, Kelly devotes her days to caring for her own little ones…and would not trade this new job of hers for the world! In her not-so-spare time, Kelly loves meeting up with her girlfriends for margaritas, failing miserably at Pinterest projects, and exploring this big old city with her two favorite little side-kicks in tow.

  1. I’ve had dreams about those macarons since the launch party. And I’m following Pomp & Circumstance on Facebook and just want all of the clothes. All of them.
    It was a great event! I’m so glad to be a part of the team.

  2. The party was a blast and I am so excited to be apart of this team! Anyone want to head back to Pomp and Circumstance with me? She has some pieces I still think I need!

    • How exciting, Whitney!! We are thrilled to have you join us down here in Houston, and we would love to connect with you at one of our events too. Keep us posted on the move and let us know if we can help! (Well, not physically move boxes or anything…but we are really good at helping people find pediatricians and such!)
