Kids Corona Confessions:: Laylah

 I am writing this on March 23, 2020, which marks the 21st day that I have been out of school. And let’s just say that things escalated very quickly. COVID-19 canceled school. This has given me time to catch up on much needed sleep. However, I have had to pick up slack around the house which is more than I bargained for.

The concept of time has felt very off during these days. We seem to be stay up late but we are still up very early in the morning.

I’m not too happy about missing school because I can’t see my friends and I don’t want to fall behind in my classes that earn high school credits. I’m looking forward to online learning starting this week.

My friends and I still communicate via text, social media and FaceTime. We talk about how different life is right now.

This morning, I tried preparing breakfast because it is something I have time for now. I enjoyed it, but a certain person named Joi wasn’t very keen on it. It’s okay though.

Now I spend my days keeping a low profile. It helps me to avoid as much work as possible.

This is life for now.

Laylah {March 2006}, was born and raised in Sugar Land, TX. Laylah is a straight A student who takes her work seriously, but never passes up the opportunity for fun and laughter. At school she is on the Broadcast team, serves as a WEB Leader, plays volleyball, basketball and runs track. During her free time, this Gen-Z kid can be found engaging in social media, listening to music, reading, making videos or hanging with her friends. Laylah loves pancakes, puppies and making fun of her mother.

Joi was born and raised in San Antonio. After a brief pit stop at the University of Texas in Austin, Joi moved to Houston in 1994 and began checking boxes off her never ending to do list. During this time and in no particular order, Joi taught a little bit of everything between first and eighth grades, got married and then divorced, completed grad school, birthed a few babies – Ferris {November 1997}, Warren {December 1999} and Laylah {March 2006}, moved an old lady into her home – Granny {January 1925} started working in Human Resources, served an excessive amount of time (on boards, in booster clubs, team momming) as a crazy sports momma, and learned a lot of life lessons. Joi is known for her unabashed honesty, always present sense of humor and her #TeamTooMuch style of doing everything. On most days, you can find her caught up in her love/hate relationship with politics, feeding her Facebook addiction, or counting the number of days until her last child graduates from high school.

    • A certain person named Joi – is proud indeed. <3
      Except what's up with a certain person named Laylah trying to avoid chores?! LOL!
