We love Kingwood, which is a straight shot up I69 North in Harris County and Montgomery County.

Kingwood has many great neighborhoods to consider, like Greentree Village, Sand Creek Village, Kings Point Village, Kingwood Place, Forest Cove Country Club Estates , and many more! Neighborhoods.com is a great place to start to find out more about these neighborhoods and to find a house.


Why Moms Love it

Kingwood is a fun, quiet, family-friendly area with that safe community feel. It is an easy drive down I69 for anyone commuting into Houston. The residents of Kingwood LOVE the number of community events throughout the year, like Mardi Gras, Picnic on the Park, Auto Shoes, the Fourth of July parade, and Christmas in the Park. Kingwood is a part of the city of Houston, which hosts tons of information on events and attractions here

Local Family Favorites :: {Playgrounds, sports, activities, parks}

At HMB, we love family-friendly activities. If it’s hot outside {because, it’s HOUSTON}, we recommend these indoor play places and these awesome splash pads! We also love taking care of ourselves. We have compiled a list of mommy-favorite fitness classes around town that can help you with self care. The city of Kingwood also has a great list of Family Fun Listings that can help aid any family to find the right place for them. 

  • Some places in Kingwood were greatly affected by Hurricane Harvey and haven’t reopened. The Lake Houston YMCA is a great option for family fun. King’s Harbor and the Kingwood Library are also family favorite hangouts that haven’t reopened yet.
  • 90 plus miles of wooded running trails and bike trails with kayaking and fishing
  • The Little Gym:: Kingwood
  • Kid Creations Kingwood is a FUN-FILLED kids studio {mobile or brick and mortar} that does plaster painting, sand art, mosaic art, paint-a-pot pottery, mixed media 3D canvas art, tie-dye tile art, stepping stones, custom & special order wood art, and so much more. Perfect for birthday parties or a family date!
  • Pump it Up:: Kingwood is a children’s amusement center with inflatables, games, parties, and more!
  • River Grove Park has piers, covered picnic areas, tons of space for families, and four different playground areas for all ages. There is access to boat ramps, a shaded fishing dock, exercise stations, disk golf in the woods, and restrooms too. What more could you ask for in a local park? This park has made our list of the BEST Parks in Houston!
  • Houston Public Libraries boast quite a few family friendly activities. Find your closest location here. Your kids will love the library and all of its FREE fun things to do. A few of us may even want to move into it! A lot of neighborhoods even boast Free Little Libraries that can help your kid keep their love of reading alive.  

Childcare and Schools

We know finding great child care and schools is a daunting task.  There are hundreds of great day care options in this area, but finding the right one for your family takes work. Schools in Kingwood are a part of either Humble ISD or New Caney ISD, which are great school districts. There are a few private schools in Kingwood, like The Covenant Preparatory School {PK-12}, St. Martha Catholic School {PK-8}, Pines Montessori School {Toddler-Middle School}, Christian Life Center Academy {PK-12}, and Frassati Catholic High School. There are also many charter schools across Houston, like YES Prep and Harmony Schools. There is also a branch of the Lone Star College System in Kingwood:: Lone Star College-Kingwood, a two-year community college.


Perfect Date Night/Staycation

Mommy breaks like date nights, an occasional brunch, and staycations are an important part of self care.
