New Year, New You :: Mommy Makeover Results

It has been a little over two weeks since the winner of our New Year, New You :: Mommy Makeover Contest was announced, and while we made it Facebook official over on our page at the close of the contest – we realized that we never formally announced it here too!  So without further ado, here is our amazing winner…

Jessica

Jessica Ringley

I am a stay at home mother of 3 year old twins, Brady and Chloe, in Katy, TX. When my children were 15 months old, I decided I wanted to live a healthier lifestyle and be an example for them. Since then I have lost 77 pounds. I have managed to carve out some time to exercise 6 days a week, but this means I mostly live in gym clothes and no make-up. I would love to win this makeover and enjoy a few moments of me time!

Over the past few weeks, Jessica has been busy getting pampered to the max!  And originally, we were going to write up a long-winded post telling you all about what she did and all of the awesome people she got to work with…but then Jessica surprised us by writing up this beautifully-written testimonial herself.  So we decided to let her {and these amazing photos from Momma’s Gonna SNAP} do the talking instead!

When a friend of mine sent me the link for the ‘New Year, New You’ Mommy Makeover Contest and encouraged me to enter, I thought it sounded fun and couldn’t hurt to try. I never imagined how people would respond to my photo and my story. I received an overwhelming amount of support from friends, family, friends of friends, and even complete strangers! The whole week of the contest I just felt surrounded by such positive energy coming from so many people. My husband and I have been working on living a healthier lifestyle for over a year and a half now, so it has become a regular part of our lives. We don’t look back on where we were and how far we’ve come that often anymore just because we are busy living in the present. Entering the contest gave me a chance to really reflect on the progress we’ve made and to feel proud. Since the contest, several people have reached out to me and said they were inspired by my story to start their own journey towards being active and healthier. That has been the most surprising part of this, but the most rewarding!

As for the actual makeover, the thing I enjoyed the most was meeting the people that were working on the makeover process. My almost three year old daughter was feeling under the weather on the day I was supposed to go to Pomp and Circumstance Boutique to pick out an outfit, so she came with me while her twin brother went to school. We had such a wonderful experience picking out and trying on dresses that day together, and she loved it. {She is a little diva in her own right, so she was totally in her element!} I really enjoyed chatting with Marie, the owner of the boutique. She was so incredibly helpful in finding the perfect outfit for me, and we commiserated briefly on some of the joys/challenges of parenting. It was tough to choose between all of the stylish outfits that were there, but I finally settled on the LBD and a gorgeous statement necklace.

The next part of the makeover had to be postponed for about a week while my family battled a stomach bug. I had to laugh at how appropriate this was. The point of the makeover contest is that moms rarely have time to pamper themselves because we are usually in the thick of caring for our families. That couldn’t have been more true for me at that particular moment! Pampering was going to have to wait while I was busy washing load after load of laundry and shuttling kids to and from the urgent care.

We finally started to all feel better when the big day for my appointment at Edward Sanchez Vanity Lounge came. The main thing that struck me while there was the time and the care that went into the process of making me over. Not even for my wedding had I ever had so much attention paid to my face! Kristina was the make-up artist that worked with me, and she was meticulous and very skilled. I really enjoyed all of the primping and also just the sense of not having anything else to do other than to sit still and look up and down, or to the left and right when it was required of me. When my hair and make-up was done, I looked like a new person!

Makeover

Once I was all made over, I started to work with Amanda who is the momma behind Momma’s Gonna SNAP Photography for my ‘After’ pictures.  Again, I think the last time I had pictures taken of just me was at my wedding, and I didn’t realize how difficult posing would be! {Usually whenever we take family pictures we are all just happy if we are all looking at the camera and no one is crying.} However, Amanda was so easy to work with and really put me at ease in front of the camera.  She coached me on where to stand and how to pose, and she managed to capture some absolutely gorgeous pictures of me and my new look!

I had so much fun with the whole experience, and I got to work with so many awesome ladies too! I even learned a thing or two about myself in the process. I want to thank everyone involved for all they did!

Sounds pretty amazing, huh?  Well, the makeover doesn’t end there!  Jessica is also going to be receiving a personal styling consultation from Claudia Saenz.  We all know that us moms can get in a…well…rut.  So Claudia is going to come out to Jessica’s house, go through her closet, and help her come up with a style that is practical yet polished using items that she already has right in her very own wardrobe.  We will keep you posted on how that goes too!

And before we go, we want to let you know about a fabulous new service that is coming to Houston this spring!  BeautyNow allows you to search and book last minute appointments all online – perfect for busy moms looking for those hard to find last minute appointments.  They graciously coordinated this fabulous makeover for Jessica, and we have some big plans with them in the coming months too.  So stay tuned!

  1. Congratulations again Jessica! You look AMAZING! I’m so inpired by your story of you and your husband deciding to be a good example for your kiddos and live a healthier lifestyle. It’s so hard to do in the busy lives we lead, but you showed everyone that it can be done. Thanks for sharing your story with us!
