Taking The Guess Work Out Of Clean Eating {Healthy in Houston}

norepmealprep3

It has been a couple of months since I last shared about my struggle with my weight and getting healthy. I will be honest and say that I did really well from October – mid December.  Once the holidays hit though, we got off our schedule, and I gave into temptations and didn’t make the best choices.

The good news? I don’t have to let that get me down. Today is a new day, and I am back on track and not going to let small upsets stand in my way. It won’t be the last set back I am sure, and I just have to continue to take things day by day.

One thing my getting off track showed me is how important my meal planning was. When I didn’t have things prepared or planned out, it was easy to slip back into bad habits and make up an excuse {aka blame the kids and my lack of time!}.

The Solution I found?

NO REP MEAL PREP

I was over the moon excited when I found No Rep Meal Prep on Facebook. Mary, the owner, has taken all the guess work out of clean eating by preparing a weekly menu of clean, Paleo approved meals.  Her motto is “Fail to plan, plan to fail.”  Which is exactly what I was doing.

Mary began her business when she found herself sick with rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure, and hypothyroidism. Mary’s doctor suggested she give Whole30 a try. One month into eating Paleo, and she lost over 25 pounds and went off all medications that dealt with her RA. Mary began posting her Paleo journey on Instagram {@NoRepMealPrep}, and it was there that a follower realized she was local and asked if she would cook for them as well. From there, No Rep Meal Prep was born and has become a HUGE favorite among the local CrossFit crowd. She has grown her Instagram following to over 8,000 followers and says that her social media accounts help to keep her accountable and stay on track.

Each week Mary places the menu online, and you can place your orders for as much or as little food as you want. You can order a week’s worth of food {which includes 5 breakfasts, 5 lunches, and 5 dinners} or order meals individually. One huge thing for me is that you can pick and choose which meals appeal to you and your family from that week. So if you feel like eating her sweet potato and apple sausage hash every morning for breakfast – you can just order 5 of those! All of her food sounds amazing though, so I will probably need to give everything a try at least once…or twice. Currently there are 3 pick up locations for food, and you can note on your order form each week where you would like to pick up your meals.

  1. I have never felt better than when I was following a Paleo diet… but with a non-Paleo husband, it has been so hard to stick with. Love that an option like No Rep Meal Prep exists!

  2. I love the motto “Fail to plan, plan to fail.” I always try to plan my meals out for at least two days in advance. I hate the feeling when I don’t have anything to eat and I just go for snack or fast food. That is why planning is the way to go.
