Who doesn’t love Target? It’s my sanctuary. A place where I can run off to and not feel guilty because it’s for the family since I need items like toilet paper and diapers, but will allow myself to wander into the women’s clothing department, Starbucks in hand. It’s my little money pit. You know, you walk in with a small list of groceries and walk out with a mile-long receipt and $100+ bill. That’s okay, you are still on your Target high, where money doesn’t matter.
I’ve become a little obsessed lately with some great fashion blogs. The ones telling me all of the fall items that I “must-have.” So when I went to Target the other day to scope out some cute pieces to write about, my keen {blog-obsessed} eye noticed that half the items I loved were dupes {duplicates} of a more expensive version on my wishlist.
So what are these fall “must-haves” I’m speaking of? I’ll make it super easy to remember :: PSST {How to remember…you may get PSST at me for making your spend even more $$ at Target!}
- P – Plaid
- S – Scarf
- S – Sweatshirt
- T – Tunic
Before you worry that you will have to buy 4 things, I’ll even help you out and combine a few – like a Plaid Scarf! Done and done. Add these items to some jeans and leggings you already own, and you are all set for fall.
I’m not talking bottoms or shoes today…that would be a whole other post! I usually don’t shop for bottoms at Target because with my curvier physique I’ve found that I need to stick to my Hue Ultra Wide Waistband Leggings and Curvy Fit {Julie} pants & jeans from Loft. Target has so many great shoes and other accessories right now, but as you can see, this post is long enough.
In case you are want to know, below I’m wearing Old Navy Pixie Pants in black in the ankle length {I’m 5’4” for reference}. I love the pixie pants for their stretch and comfort. It’s like a more professional legging. I also purchased the same pant in the regular length for a different look. And for sizing reference, I’m a standard Large {thanks to Jack and never going to the gym}.
*Also note: Don’t believe when it says on the Target website “Online Only” below a product. I do not find this to be true in most cases.
Merona Long Sleeve Crochet Sweatshirt :: $24.99
{Dupe for Loft Lace Front Sweatshirt :: $59.50}
I LOVE this sweatshirt and can’t get over how similar it is to the Loft version which is double the price. And I would know since I already own the Loft version! Stupid me. It’s a tad on the sheer side, so just don’t wear a black bra underneath like I was – and you will be good! I sized up on this one, but it just depends how you like your sweatshirt to fit. It’s perfect for Houston too since it’s lightweight.
Mossimo Leisure Hooded Tunic :: $22.99
{Dupe for Free People Cowl Neck Pullover :: $68}
This tunic is great because it covers your bum so it can be worn with leggings! It’s available in 6 colors online {my store only had 2}. This is a very thick sweatshirt only to be worn on those three cold days in Houston…or if you have a cold house!
Mossimo Textured Sweatshirt Gray :: $19.99
{Dupe for Halogen Quilt Detail Sweatshirt :: Reg. $58, On Sale now $34.80}
This sweatshirt is an identical match for a sweatshirt that is now sold out at Nordstrom. It is so cozy! The price is great, and I love that it is a thinner sweatshirt – perfect for Houston!
Mossimo Crew Neck Pullover Sweatshirt Plaid :: $19.99
This is the same style sweatshirt as the one above, but in a different print. And you can check two things off — Plaid + Sweatshirt!
Merona Cowl Tunic Top {Pictured in Stuffed Olive color} :: $27.99
Beautiful, high quality tunic available in 6 colors. I especially love the oatmeal heather color! This tunic has more of a professional look than the others I’ve mentioned. It is also a little clingy so you may want to size up. I was wearing my standard size in the picture above. This would look great with work pants, but also jeans and tall boots for a more casual look!
Mossimo Drapey Tee :: $12.99
{Dupe for Gap Fluid V-neck Tee :: $24.95}
Available in 12 colors! Drapey tees are my favorite because you can dress them up or down. They are great in Houston to wear with a scarf and not die of a heat stroke and this one is long enough in the back to wear with leggings or yoga pants as I often do most weekends.
Merona Oversized Plaid Scarf :: $16.99
{Dupe for Zara version – Sold Out, Madewell :: $65, ASOS :: $30.32, and Heart & Home Collection :: $34.50}
Speaking of scarves, this one is ALL OVER Instagram right now! Since the original Zara version has long been sold-out, there are many dups out there, however this one from Target looks great and is the cheapest I’ve seen. My store only has one {which I left for you} so grab it fast if you see one! If plaid isn’t your thing, Target has some great scarf options for all tastes.
Mossimo Long Sleeve Flannel Shirt :: $22.99
{Dupe for Gap Buffalo Plaid Shirt :: $54.95}
Plaid, flannel shirts are everywhere right now! Comfy and cute. You can find them at Gap and Old Navy, but these at Target are perfect. Available in 8 colors. My store was very well stocked with all color selections, but in my opinion it just doesn’t get any better than black and white buffalo check!
Xhiliration Junior’s Crochet Top :: $24.99
{Reminds me of an Anthro top that is normally $78+}
This is a beautiful top that actually I know a few HMB Contributors fell in love with earlier this year in the short-sleeve version. I’ve also seen it as a tank. This top is great for the office under a blazer or just if you need something a little dressier. I sized up 2 sizes in this one…whoa…since it’s a Junior top and because I preferred a more flowy look. My mom always taught me not to pay attention to the size, but the fit. No one will see your tags {unless you blog about it for all the world to see}!
Mossimo 3/4 Sleeve Tunic :: $22.99
{I could only find the link to the Plus version, but it does come in regular sizing too!}
Shown in the Geo Print. This print tunic is great to wear with jeans or leggings and tall boots. You could also throw on a drapey sweater for the office or in cooler temps. It is very forgiving and great to wear with our temps now.
Mossimo Junior’s Camouflage Anorak Jacket :: $39.99
{Dupe for Nordstrom Camo Jacket :: $98, Fleece Lined version :: $68 and Loft version :: $98}
I love this jacket! It is adorable and very comfortable. It is a lighter weight so great for Houston, and I love the longer length. I sized up on this one since it’s a Junior fit, but you can also cinch the waist to give a flattering fit. There is also a very similar version from Old Navy that is actually on sale now making it cheaper at $24.97 here! The Old Navy version does not have a hood.
Mossimo Women’s Tunic Dress :: $27.99
Finally, this dress is a no-brainer if you work outside the home or for church. It’s comfortable, inexpensive, and the shift style will look great on many types of bodies. I recommend getting your hands on this one asap. I have a feeling it will sell-out. I found it to be true to size.
I hope this was fun and gave you some easy ideas for new fall outfits that are super affordable and attainable. Let me know if you have any sizing questions if ordering online.
P.S. – I’ve coined myself the “Target Huntress” since I’m {a little too} good at tracking pieces down that can’t be found online or at my local store {Sugar Land}. I’ve had virtual blog friends mail me Lion Dog costumes from Oklahoma and even had a sweet Instagram friend ship me a huge RUG from a Target in Arkansas for my grandmother. If there is a piece you want and can’t find, I’m your girl!
P.P.S. – Don’t forget to download your Target Cartwheel App before hitting the stores. The sales are always updating and Merona, Mossimo, and Xhiliration clothing deals are often added!
Happy Shopping!
Love this post! Which store did you go to? The web site says the drapey tees aren’t available in stores, but clearly you found them.
Hey Cynthia! I was at the Sugar Land Target at 59 and Highway 6. I NEVER believe the website when it says “online only.” Half of the tops I tried on said that online and clearly they were in the store. Maybe they do that so you will feel compelled to buy online right then??? The Sugar Land store had about 4 colors of the drapey tee – both v-neck and crew neck. Hope that helps!
I work just down the street from that Target! 🙂 I frequent that Target, like, every day.
Maybe I will run into you there Jaclyn! I feel like I’m there at least once a week…usually at lunchtime!
Do you follow All Things Target? Great website!!
No! I must go check it out. Thanks for the recommendation and for reading!
Ahhhh I need the blanket scarf dupe! I didn’t even think to check Target! It has the perfect colors in it!
Yes, you NEED it! Hurry and grab one if you see it. Last time I was at Sugar Land they had one left!
Tell me more about these leggings you stick to…i need an upgrade from my cheapo ones.
Hey Jen! I LOVE the Hue Ultra Wide Waistband leggings. I purchase from Nordstrom and size down on these. The wide waistband really holds you in super well and they are thick so no undies showing through! I own them in black and gray, but could probably order a second black pair since I wear them so much.
Just bought the leggings in this post. Thank you for the “advice.”
Yay! I hope you like them as much as I do!
I LOVED this post, and I ordered 3 of the pieces online and love them all! Let’s do a post like this for every season, mkay! 😉
