A Magical Adventure for the Whole Family

Houston Moms is proud to partner with Department of Wonder to bring you and your family a truly magical entertainment experience!

Looking for something fun to do with your kids during the holidays? While I enjoy my fair share of lazy days with everyone cozy at home, when we have too many of those in a row everyone gets a little crabby and stir crazy. I love finding new places around town that offer a fun experience that everyone in the family will enjoy. So imagine my delight when I discovered Department of Wonder! Truly unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, it is the perfect family friendly adventure- to get you out of the house, away from the screens, and working together to journey through this fantastical world!

Experience Something New

Department of Wonder is an immersive mixed-reality fantasy that blurs the boundaries between physical and digital reality. And it’s now open in Sugar Land Town Square, just a hop, skip, and a jump from pretty much anywhere in the Houston area! Suited for all ages and occasions (not just holidays!), Department of Wonder is a collaborative adventure that’s honestly difficult to put into words. It blends aspects of theater, video games, an art gallery, a theme park, and an escape room all into one. The perfect “just right” activity for both adults and kids- it’s not too scary, but not too childish either. Everyone will find something to enjoy at Department of Wonder.

When you first arrive, you’re invited to step into an otherworldly storefront where you receive a magical lantern that gathers light for a journey. The quest involves working together to unravel stories and solve puzzles together. You meet colorful characters — both human and digital- as you travel through this strange and beautiful world. You’ll be absolutely delighted by the creativity and adventure!

Bring the Family!

So far, Department of Wonder reviews from Houstonians are glowing. Both adults and kids alike are captivated by this enchanting and whimsical journey where curiosity and collaboration are rewarded. The Houston Chronicle reported that “Sugar Land’s Department of Wonder lives up to its name” and that “it truly is a magical time”.
This pioneering entertainment concept is a 10,000 square foot venue that combines interactive theater with emerging technology to create an incredible immersive fantastical experience. Like stepping into a video game, Department of Wonder stages a mixed-reality quest, where guests are exploring on an enchanting quest to bring light into darkness. But, unlike seeing your kids play video games or watch Youtube all day in their pajamas, zoned out and zombie-eyed, this adventure is collaborative. It will have you up on your feet, exploring and imagining together. You and your family will work together to discover all that Department of Wonder has to offer in this unique experience.

Experience the magic

Created by an acclaimed team of story-tellers, technologists, designers, and producers with decades of collective experience producing novel forms of digital and interactive entertainment, this will be an experience like no other! The creators include Academy and Emmy Award-winning directors. You are in for a treat as you explore, problem solve, and travel through this enchanting and magical world.
Come and see Department of Wonder for yourself! Bring the whole family to this memorable and magical adventure unlike anything else. Department of Wonder is located at 2180 Lone Star Drive in Sugar Land Town Square. To learn more and purchase your tickets, visit deptofwonder.com.
