I’m a loyal friend, fiercely competitive when it comes to Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune {or any game for that matter}, a Caramel Macchiato drinker, compulsive online-shopper, habitual WebMD-er, total first-time mom, and a thankful wife. I’m insanely opinionated, exceedingly sarcastic, absolutely driven when I put my mind to things {except losing this pesky baby weight}, I love to make people laugh, and any type of creative project has a tendency to throw me into full-on “Martha-mode.”
There is no feeling I like less than regretting what I haven’t done, so whether it be something like bungee jumping at the age of ten {yes, there’s video to prove it, and yes, my parents may have been insane for agreeing to it} or moving to Texas on my own without any means of taking care of myself, I’ve always just followed my gut and felt peace in my decisions.
I have a photographic memory {I should say I had, motherhood has wreaked havoc on that part of my brain}, before I became a teacher I had aspirations of working for the FBI {totally similar, no?!}, I love a good Mary Higgins Clark novel, and Murder, She Wrote is my guilty pleasure – hey, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents growing up, don’t judge!
I’m pretty much an open book, so if you want to know anything else about me, just ask!

Houston is the city where I became an adult…it’s the city where I met my husband, started my life as a wife, and where I became a mother. I love that this city has seen me as a single college co-ed and now a married mom of one – and I love that I have been able to see Houston through these stages as well. When I first moved to Houston, I remember feeling completely out of place and unfamiliar with everything – as a girl used to using landforms in navigation, it was a whole new world to me! Nowadays, I feel like I have a story or a memory for every part of Houston…participating in my first triathlon at Lake Houston, renting my first apartment in the Galleria area, watching my husband play football at Robertson Stadium, losing myself in my thoughts during walks around Rice University, building our business and our family in Katy, becoming a mom in the Medical Center – so the memories that I have made, and those that have yet to be made, are the best thing about Houston to me.

Caroline was born September 2012 and changed our lives forever. Caroline came out smiling and has been ever since – save for the occasional toddler tantrum. Caroline is a girl after my own heart – she LOVES books, playing basketball {she will literally clap for herself and say ‘yay’ after every. single. basket.}, having her hair dried, foot rubs, dancing, and climbing on EVERYTHING. She has recently become quite the independent little thing…she insists on walking by herself to and from her classroom every morning at school with her lunch bag in tow – mind you this lunch bag weighs nearly as much as she does and is half her size – and I’m pretty sure she’d try to drive the car if I let her. I have learned so much as this girl’s mom, and I can’t imagine life without her.
I am so excited to be joining Houston Moms Blog and love this growing community! If you’d like to follow our crazy family, come visit me at New Mom Problems or on Instagram!

Hi Amy! So nice to “meet” you. When I was reading your post, I felt like I was reading something I wrote about myself…uncanny…AND I have a degree in Organizational Communications, too, and decided to become a teacher afterwards, too. I just moved from Louisiana recently, and I’m currently in the application process with the Katy ISD…Looking forward to reading more of your posts. P.S. Caroline is adorable!
