Celebrate National Pancake Day in Houston

stack of pancakes with butter and syrup on topPancakes. Flapjacks. Hotcakes. Griddle cakes… there are so many names for this classic breakfast staple. March 1st is National Pancake Day, and to help y’all celebrate, we’ve rounded up our favorite places to find the best ones in HTX!

Snooze An A.M. Eatery

kids plate of pancakes with hashbrown and fruitI am a huge fan of the delicious pancakes from Snooze An A.M. Eatery! I like getting the Signature Pancake Flight so that I can try a little bit of everything. I usually personalize the order by asking for these flavors:: Pineapple Upside Down, Blueberry Danish, and then the Daily Special. Truly, you can’t go wrong with any of their pancakes, and the portions are large enough to share!

The Buffalo Grille

The hotcakes at The Buffalo Grille are the size of a dinner plate and so, so good. They are delectably fluffy and served with hot syrup (yes, they keep their syrup on a warmer so it is always the perfect temperature). My kids love the chocolate chip pancakes here!

First Watch

Do you have a First Watch in your neighborhood? If so, it’s worth popping in to give their pancakes a try! I personally like the Lemon Ricotta pancakes and I love that they are also served with warm syrup (this is truly a game changer, folks!). Pro tip:: Join their Sun eClub (email list) and they’ll send you a buy one, get one free entrée coupon a few weeks before your birthday!

Empire Café

There are many delicious things to eat at Empire Café, their buttermilk/whole wheat pancakes included! You have the option to add dried or fresh fruit to your pancakes here, too.

Barnaby’s Café

Barnaby’s Café has a great breakfast menu and their pancakes are fab. Enjoy a stack of buttermilk pancakes or add some seasonal fruit to your selection.

Mo’ Better Brews

Those looking for a vegan friendly pancake joint will want to add Mo’ Better Brews to the list. Their menu looks amazing- I am drooling over those Peach Cobbler Pancakes, myself.

The Toasted Yolk

The Toasted Yolk is another popular breakfast spot that I’ve heard serves wonderful pancakes. There are several locations around town, so they are easy to find, too!

Dandelion Café

Dandelion Café is a neighborhood restaurant that only serves food that’s made in house or sourced locally. I am partial to their omelets, but I hear the pancakes are lovely.

Make Your Own Pancake Board

board with pancakes, chocolate and strawberriesWant a DIY option? My kids love eating breakfast for dinner and the easiest way to serve this as a meal is to make your own pancake board. I love this tutorial from Completely Delicious on how to build a fun and easy breakfast board. My favorite pancake recipe of all time {it’s never let me down!} comes from Ree Drummond, aka The Pioneer Woman. Aunt Edna Mae’s Sour Cream Pancakes are made from mostly staple ingredients and come out soft and fluffy every. single. time! Plop some warm maple syrup on the side {I love using these adorable Staub mini round cocottes} and dinner is served!
