From Play Date to Hot Date :: Easy Beauty Tips to Amp it Up

As mothers, we barely have enough time to put mascara on during the day, let alone a full face of makeup. We’ve all been there.Β Having enough time to look and feel fabulous doesn’t discriminate against any type of mom – whether they are at home all day or away bringing home the bacon. As a makeup obsessed mom, I am determined to find that time for fabulous {in fact, that’s my motto for my personal blog}. Over the years, I’ve discovered some easy tips to amp up my beauty routine, taking my makeup ‘from play date to hot date!’ As moms, we still want to look and feel sexy for our partners, especially when they have a hot date planned for us.

From Play Date to Hot Date - Easy Tips to Amp Up Your Beauty Routine

Your Day Face ::

You had the time to put on a little foundation, mascara, and eyeliner, and if you’re lucky, you slapped some eyeshadow on those lids. It’s faded throughout the day, your hair has gone flat thanks to that Houston humidity, and by the end of the work day, you have grabbed yourself a caffeine injection and are ready to rock it. Here’s my ‘end of the day’ face. Basically – I need help. This is sad, because this is actually what I look like when I get home from work. Haha!

  • Flawless Complexion. This trick is easily achieved by buffing some powder foundation all over the face. Usually, I’ll take a kabuki brush and buff it all over, including under my eyes and down my neck.
  • Sculpted Features. I place a matte bronzer along my hairline, under my cheekbones, and along my jawline. It not only sculpts my features, but will also make me look thinner. Win, win!
  • Highlight. Instead of spending a lot of time with a highlighter, I simplify with a shimmery peach blush. Place it on the apples of your cheeks for a flush of color and a little highlight.
  • Make Those Lips Pop. Using a bold lipstick such as a red, hot pink, or even a deep berry will instantly glam you up.
  • Smolder. Take a black eyeliner pencil that will easily smudge out. You can haphazardly line both your upper and lower lash line and then smudge it out with either a pencil brush or a q-tip. This definitely gives you an evening look with little effort. If you have the time, place a little highlight color below the brow bone. If you are doing a super bold lip, make sure not to go overboard with the smoky eye. If you want a dramatic eye, do a nude lip.
  • Big Texas Hair. Tease that hair up, put a little volumizing powder in, and curl those front layers. Wham, bam, thank you ma’am.

A little sparkle doesn’t hurt, either. And there you have it! Super easy tips that workΒ every single time,Β and in no time at all!

  1. Since I stay at home with my little one, I’m lucky if I even fix my hair and do more than just a little lip gloss and mascara on a day to day basis…it’s not easy to get motivated when you know you’re not leaving the house! I love your date night look…especially the big Texas hair! It’s a must, isn’t it?

    • Thanks girl! Yes, when I was home during the summer, I sometimes would just put on makeup even if I were just going grocery shopping! LOL. Thanks for your sweet comment! Always gotta love Texas hair πŸ™‚

  2. Meg, you’re just as cute as you can be, but the effects of those makeup tips really take it up a notch! I am not really very good with makeup application, but your instructions were good- I think I could manage these! I’m like Jennifer, above- I’m not scared of lipstick, but I AM scared of bronzer! You have inspired me to try it, though! πŸ™‚

    Love, Joy

    • Thank you so much for your sweet comment! Don’t fear bronzer – just choose a matte one (no shimmer whatsoever, I recommend Too Faced Chocolate Soleil, Nars Laguna or NYC Sunny at the drugstore) and start really lightly! It makes all the difference! Give it a go! Don’t be scared!

  3. Beautiful!! I seriously need to find me a good foundation. My skin is so uneven, but I have a hard time finding one that looks natural and doesn’t wash me out. Any recommendations for me???
